Full leg or half leg? What you actually get

That is the trade you are making when you swap the razor for wax. One appointment, and you stop thinking about your legs until the growth cycle catches up with you. We do leg waxing out of a private single room studio on Westlake Avenue in South Lake Union, and a full leg appointment runs an hour.

Half leg means you pick one half. Upper or lower, your choice. Most people take the lower half, ankle to knee, because that is what shows under a dress or shorts. Some take the upper half instead when the lower half is already handled.

Full leg is the whole thing, hip to ankle, and ours includes the tops of the feet and the toes.

That last part gets skipped more often than you would think, and it is the kind of omission you only notice once the appointment is finished.

Toes are the detail that separates a finished leg wax from an almost finished one, and we include them rather than treating them as an upsell. Same with the fingers on our full arm wax, for the same reason.

So which one should you book?

If you have never waxed your legs before, the honest answer is start with a half leg. Lower legs have coarser hair and the sensation is different from shaving. Fifty dollars and thirty minutes tells you whether this is for you, and you can move up to full legs next time knowing exactly what you are in for.

What leg waxing costs in Seattle

Full leg wax including feet and toes
$100 60 minutes
Half leg wax, upper or lower
$50 30 minutes

Pricing is flat and published, which means there is no consultation fee and nothing gets added to the total while you are lying on the table.

An hour for full legs is a real hour. Legs are a large surface area and rushing them is how you end up with missed patches down the back of the calf, which is the one spot you cannot check properly in a mirror. We would rather use the time.

The full price list sits on our waxing and beauty services page, and if you are short on time, our express waxing appointments cover the smaller areas.

Why legs are the area where waxing pulls ahead

Shaving legs is a two or three day cycle, which you already know if you have ever tried to plan around it.

So why do so many people stay on that cycle for years before trying anything else?

Usually because nobody told them what the alternative actually costs in time.

Waxing pulls the hair from the root, so regrowth takes three to four weeks rather than half a week. The hair that does come back arrives softer and finer, because repeated waxing weakens the follicle over time. After a few cycles most clients notice patches growing in thinner than they used to.

There is a second benefit that nobody mentions until they experience it. Waxed legs do not get stubble. That sandpaper feeling two days after shaving simply does not happen, because there is no blunt cut end sitting at the surface.

We have written more on this on our waxing versus shaving guide, including what to expect through the first few cycles.

The wax we use

We primarily work with a soft wax infused with tea tree oil and aloe vera. On legs that matters, because you are treating a large area in one session and skin that reacts badly will let you know across the whole surface rather than one small patch. The formula suits all skin types and is gentle on sensitive skin. Hard wax is available on request.

Licensed technicians work in a private, single room studio, so the space is yours for the appointment.

How to prep so your appointment runs on time

Let the hair grow to about a quarter inch. That is roughly two to three weeks after your last shave. This is the single thing that most affects how your appointment goes. Hair that is too short forces a second pass over the same skin, which is more uncomfortable and takes longer.

Exfoliate gently a day or two before, not on the day itself.

Skip lotion, oil and self tanner the morning of your appointment. Wax needs to grip skin, and anything slick on the surface works against it.

Wear something loose to travel home in. Leggings are the wrong choice for the ride back.

If you are on retinol or any prescription that thins the skin, tell us when you book. It changes how we approach the area.

Aftercare for the first two days

  • Skip the gym, hot tubs, saunas and pools for about 24 hours
  • Keep the area clean and dry
  • Use aloe vera gel or a cool compress if skin feels warm
  • Avoid harsh scrubs and fragranced products for the first day
  • Start light exfoliation after about three days to keep ingrown hairs down

Seattle summers are short, and we see a rush from May through August every year. If you want to be on a clean cycle by the time the weather turns, start in spring rather than the week before a trip. The first appointment resets the growth pattern and the second one is where the results really settle.

Our full routine is on the waxing aftercare guide.

We are at 1500 Westlake Ave N #104, Seattle, WA 98109. Parking around South Lake Union is easier here than the neighborhood generally deserves, and clients mention it in reviews often enough that we now think of it as part of the service. Bus routes stop within a short walk.

Leg waxing FAQ

How much does leg waxing cost in Seattle?

A full leg wax including feet and toes is $100 for a 60 minute appointment. A half leg wax, upper or lower, is $50 for 30 minutes.

How long does leg hair need to be for waxing?

About a quarter of an inch, which is two to three weeks of growth after shaving. Shorter than that and the wax cannot grip the hair properly.

How long does a leg wax last?

Three to four weeks for most clients. The hair grows back finer over several cycles, which stretches the gap between appointments.

Does leg waxing hurt?

Lower legs sting more than upper legs because the hair is coarser. It is brief, and it gets easier each time as the hair grows back finer. Several of our clients describe their appointments as close to painless.

Can I shave between leg wax appointments?

We would rather you did not. Shaving cuts the hair at the surface and resets the growth cycle, which means the next wax is slower and less effective. Let it grow.

Does a full leg wax include the toes?

Yes. Ours covers the tops of the feet and the toes as standard, not as an extra.
