What a full arm wax covers

It is a straightforward wax. Less sensitive than a bikini line, faster than a full leg, and the results hold for weeks. We do arm waxing from a private single room studio on Westlake Avenue in South Lake Union, and our full arm appointment covers shoulder to fingertips, hands included.

Shoulder to fingertips. That includes the upper arm, the forearm, the tops of the hands and the fingers.

The hands are the part that matters and the part most menus quietly leave out. Waxed forearms above bare, dark knuckles look worse than doing nothing at all, so we treat the hands as part of the service rather than an add on. Our full leg wax includes the toes for exactly the same reason.

Ever noticed how arm hair looks completely different depending on the light?

That is why people book this. Arm hair that disappears indoors can be very visible in daylight or under a camera flash, which is why we see a run of bookings before weddings, graduations and photo shoots. It is also why some clients book it year round and never mention it to anyone.

What arm waxing costs in Seattle

Full arm wax including hands
$80 45 minutes

Forty five minutes is honest timing for two arms done properly. Arms have more surface area than people expect once you account for both sides, the elbow, and the fingers, and the finger work alone takes a few minutes per hand.

You can see everything we offer on our waxing and beauty services page. If your schedule is tight, our express waxing appointments in Seattle cover the smaller areas in a lunch break.

Why arm hair behaves differently

Arm hair grows more slowly than leg hair and it sits in a different growth phase, which works in your favor. Where legs need attention every three to four weeks, arms often stretch to four or six weeks before regrowth is worth another appointment.

Sun exposure is the other difference. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive to UV for about a day, and arms get more direct sun than almost anywhere else on the body. Seattle does not throw a lot of sun at us, but if you are heading somewhere that does, wax a couple of days before you fly rather than the morning you land.

So why do so many people still reach for bleach instead?

Habit, mostly, and it is worth questioning. Bleaching arm hair is a worse deal than waxing it. Bleach leaves the hair in place, so you still get the texture, the shadow in strong light and the regrowth line at the root as it grows out. It also sits on skin that is often more reactive than people expect. Removing the hair solves the actual problem.

The wax we use

We primarily work with a soft wax infused with tea tree oil and aloe vera. It suits all skin types and is gentle on sensitive skin, which is worth knowing if your arms have reacted to hair removal creams or razors before. Hard wax is available on request.

Licensed technicians work in a private, single room studio, so nobody else is in the room.

Speed is deliberate. A tidy setup, wax held at a steady temperature and a consistent rhythm keep the appointment moving, and our clients bring it up in reviews more than any other single thing.

How to prep for an arm wax

Let the hair reach about a quarter of an inch. That is roughly two to three weeks of growth if you have shaved. Arm hair often looks long enough before it actually is, so give it the extra week if you are unsure.

Exfoliate gently a day or two beforehand. Not the morning of.

Skip lotion, oil, sunscreen and self tanner on your arms on the day. Wax has to grip the hair, and a slick surface makes that harder for everyone.

Tell us if you use retinol or any prescription that thins the skin. It changes how we treat the area, and it is far better to mention it at booking than halfway through.

If you have waxed your arms before and had a reaction, say so. That is usually the moment to switch to hard wax.

Aftercare for the first two days

  • Skip hot tubs, saunas, pools and heavy workouts for about 24 hours
  • Keep sunscreen off the area for the first day, then use it properly
  • Use aloe vera gel or a cool compress if the skin feels warm
  • Avoid fragranced lotions and harsh scrubs for the first day
  • Start light exfoliation after about three days

Arms are less prone to ingrown hairs than the bikini area, but they are not immune, and the elbow is the spot that catches people out. A gentle scrub twice a week from day three onward handles it.

The full routine is on our waxing aftercare guide, and our waxing versus shaving guide covers what changes across the first few cycles.

Arm waxing questions from Seattle clients

How much does arm waxing cost in Seattle?

Our full arm wax is $80 for a 45 minute appointment, and it includes the hands and fingers.

Do you offer a half arm wax?

Our menu lists the full arm wax, shoulder to fingertips. If you want a smaller area treated, ask when you book and we will talk through what makes sense for you.

How long does arm hair need to be for waxing?

About a quarter of an inch, which is usually two to three weeks after shaving. Arm hair often looks ready before it is, so give it an extra week if you are close.

How long does an arm wax last?

Four to six weeks for most clients. Arm hair grows more slowly than leg hair, so the gap between appointments is usually longer.

Does arm waxing hurt?

Less than a bikini wax and less than lower legs. The inner arm is the most sensitive part and the upper arm is barely noticeable for most people. It is brief either way.

Can I wax my arms before a holiday?

Yes, and it is a good idea. Wax two or three days before you travel rather than the day of, since skin is more sensitive to sun for about 24 hours afterward.
